Class Refund Policy At Easy Going Sewing we keep our classes small, usually 4-6 students per instructor, so everyone gets plenty of attention. Because of this, we have a few important policies. Attendance Attendance at all sessions is important. Missed classes in a multi-week series can be made up with a 2-hour private lesson for $119. Make-up sessions cannot be transferred to other series. Showing up to each session is important — especially for multi-week series where each class builds on the last. Please arrive 5 minutes before class. IMPORTANT: Classes begin on time. If you will be more than 10 minutes late YOU MUST reschedule as you will not be able to catch up and will disrupt the class for others. Please be courteous as we teach several classes per day and need to get the studio ready for the next class. **You do not need to be on time for Open Studio since those are not structured classes. Mark Your Calendar We do not send class reminders. Please mark your calendar when you register. Refunds & Class Credit We are a very small business so last-minute cancellations significantly affect our ability to plan classes, prepare materials, and schedule staffing in a sustainable way. Last minute cancelations leave us paying for staff and prep work that is not needed. For this reason we have a strict cancelation policy. We do not offer refunds unless Easy Going Sewing must cancel a class for some reason. If you give at least 72 hours notice, we are happy to issue credit toward a future class. If you miss class due to forgetting, illness, last-minute schedule changes, work conflicts, etc, we do not issue credit outside of the 72 hour cancellation window. You are welcome to transfer your class to someone else, though. You can view your balance in your account. Your class credit balance will appear at checkout as a payment option when registering for a future class - simply click “Apply Credit Balance” when checking out. There are no refunds for suspension from the program. Easy Going Sewing has the right to suspend services due to lack of payment. Class Transfers If you cannot attend a class you have paid for and are not eligible for a credit, you may transfer your spot to a friend, co-worker, or family member (like a concert ticket). Please email us their name, or have them reach out so we will know ahead of class and can greet them properly. Sewing Machines We encourage you to bring your own machine, but we have machines available for use. We do not service sewing machines. For servicing, contact A-1 Sewing Safety & Liability Sewing involves tools such as scissors, needles, irons, and rotary cutters. By registering for or attending a class, you acknowledge these risks and agree to release Easy Going Sewing, its owner, instructors, and staff from liability related to injury. Any required medical treatment will be your responsibility. Summer Camp Refund Policy A $100 registration fee is included in the price of the camp. This fee is refundable up to two weeks before the start date of the camp. Full refunds will be given to those who cancel registration two weeks before the start of camp. After that, the $100 registration fee will be retained (unless we are able to fill the spot) and the remaining registration fees will be refunded. There are absolutely no refunds or make-up options for missed camp days. Hours & Location We are a teaching studio. We are “open” only when classes are in session. Do you recommend a certain sewing machine?

There are many fine brands and models to choose from. Online reviews can be daunting, but very helpful. Just don't go too cheap. Many of the lowest end models do not come with useful features like variable zigzag width or stitch length. It's not so much the price that matters, but generally speaking, we recommend beginners get a machine that retails for around $200-300. A machine in this range should have the features you'll need, be of decent quality, and last through many years of use. You may be able to go cheaper ($125-150 range) if you will only be doing the occasional hem, or simple mending. But again, you won't get some of the nicer features that make sewing more enjoyable at that pricepoint. We DO NOT recommend buying a "kids" machine, or anything that even remotely resembles a toy. In our experience, they are cheaply made and poorly designed. Going to a dealer to try out machines is a good way to test drive them and get a feel for what you might like. We like them both, although computerized machines, even entry level ones, offer automated features that make sewing easier for those who don't use their machine often and may forget some of the basic steps. Do all of the kids make the same things in your kid's classes?

No. Beginners work from a project list that we've created to teach basic skills. Kids must do a set number of these curated projects before moving on to commercial sewing patterns. We give them as much creative freedom as we can, but sewing is a skill that requires learning the fundementals.
