About the Class

In this class you will learn and practice the following skills:

1. Make a buttonhole

2. Sew on a button with a sewing machine

3. Use interfacing to stabilize a buttonhole or button

4. Learn what basting and stay stitches are and how they are used

5. Learn to make ruffles

6. Make a beautiful dart

7. Seam finishes and why you should use them


SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Sewing 101 or equivalent skills. You must be familiar with operating a sewing machine and sewing in a straight line to take this class. It would be helpful to know how to change a pressor foot. Instructor will not have time for teaching basic sewing machine operation.



SUPPLIES INCLUDED:

  • Fabric

  • Buttons

  • Interfacing

  • Shears, but you may bring your own.

  • Pins

  • Seam ripper

  • Sewing machines are provided, HOWEVER, you are encouraged to bring your own sewing machine and any pressor feet you have.

Kristin Gipson

Kristin is the owner of Easy Going Sewing and has been sewing by machine since the age of ten. Kristin loves to share her passion for sewing with others and believes that creating or building things by hand empowers a person and bolsters self-esteem. Kristin is a Burda Certified Sewing Instructor and has been teaching people to sew since 2014. When she isn't sewing she likes to spend time outdoors, and especially loves mountain biking and camping.
