Sewing 201 Knit Fabric - Jogger Pants

About the Class

Learn to sew with knit fabrics! In this class you'll learn to measure yourself, read and use a commercial sewing pattern, layout and cut your fabric, and sew a pair of jogger pants with elastic waistband with drawstring and leg bands. Perfect for lounging or casual wear.


  • Sewing 101 and 103 or equivalent skills. You must be familiar with operating a sewing machine and sewing in a straight line to take this class. Instructor will not have time for teaching basic sewing machine operation.

Student MUST bring ALL of the following items:

  • 1.5 to 2.25 yards of fabric depending on your size. Suggested fabrics: 60 inch wide stretch knits such as cotton lycra, jersey, bamboo knits. Solid colors or random prints only. We will not have time for matching plaids, stripes, or one-way designs in this class. Extra thin fabric such as "tissue T-shirt" not recommended.

  • Important! Pre-wash and dry your fabric before class.

  • Matching all-purpose thread. Recommended: Coates and Clark or Gutterman brands.

  • Jersey or stretch sewing machine needle size 11. Recommended: Schmetz brand


  • Simplicity Pattern 9337

  • Sewing machine, but you are welcome to bring your own.

  • Scissors, but you may bring your own.

Kristin is the owner of Easy Going Sewing and has been sewing by machine since the age of ten. Kristin loves to share her passion for sewing with others and believes that creating or building things by hand empowers a person and bolsters self-esteem. Kristin is a Burda Certified Sewing Instructor and has been teaching people to sew since 2014. When she isn't sewing she likes to spend time outdoors, and especially loves mountain biking and camping.
