Pattern Included in the Pattern Prep Workshop


Use the fabric you cut out in the Pattern Prep class to complete a woven top. 


In this class you will:

Sew a Simplicity 8655, View A, tie-front top. This pattern is a great introduction to garment making. You'll learn to read pattern instructions, stay-stitch or stabilize seams, understitch, and topstitch. Don't worry! We'll be right there to help you every step of the way.


Skills Required:

  • Sewing 101-103 or equivalent skills. Equivalent skills would be knowing how to confidently thread and use a sewing machine as well as the experience of having sewn a few beginner projects, such as drawstring/tote bag, pillow/pillowcase, or similar. Supply List:

  • Pre-cut fabric pieces

  • Pattern envelope with instructions and pattern

  • Bias tape: 1/2 Inch wide, single fold

  • Fabric Shears

  • Pins, or pattern weights if you are proficient with using them


Included:

  • Pattern: Simplicity 8655, View A (You'll receive your pattern in Part1 Pattern Prep)

  • Tables

  • Marking tools: pens, tailors chalk, tracing paper and wheel 

  • Measuring tape

  • Seam stabilizer

  • Irons


Note: If you are absolutely confident that you can properly cut and mark your pattern pieces to prepare them for this workshop, you can skip Pattern Prep, Part 1. However, you'll need to either purchase the pattern ahead of time from us ($20), or elsewhere, and prepare your pieces before arriving to this workshop. We WILL NOT have time to help you with cutting and marking, so please don't arrive with unprepared materials. Give yourself a minimum of two hours to layout, cut, and mark.

Kristin Gipson

Kristin is the owner of Easy Going Sewing and has been sewing by machine since the age of ten. Kristin loves to share her passion for sewing with others and believes that creating or building things by hand empowers a person and bolsters self-esteem. Kristin is a Burda Certified Sewing Instructor and has been teaching people to sew since 2014. When she isn't sewing she likes to spend time outdoors, and especially loves mountain biking and camping.
