Learn to Sew 102 - Heck Yes! (Zipper Workshop)
This is a two-part class
There's no need to be afraid of zippers! Build upon what you have already learned in Sewing 101 AND learn a new skill. Students will learn how to install two styles of zippers, using two styles of zipper feet. Have fun making a zipper pouch and a 20 inch throw pillow. You've got this!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
In this workshop, students will:
1. Learn two ways to install zippers: exposed and invisible
2. Part 1 - Make a zipper pouch with exposed zipper
3. Part 2 - Make a pillow cover with an invisible zipper
SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Sewing 101 (or equivalent skills). You must be familiar with operating a sewing machine in order to take
this class.
2. Students MUST be able to thread and operate a sewing machine.
3. Students should be familiar with basic sewing terms, such as, backstitching, right sides together, seam
allowance, and how they are used.
SUPPLIES REQUIRED FOR PART 1 - ZIPPER POUCH:
1. All supplies included
SUPPLIES REQUIRED FOR Part 2 - PILLOW COVER:
Student MUST bring ALL of the following items:
1. 3/4 yard of woven fabric (A medium to heavier weight upholstery fabric is best!)
2. Thread that matches your fabric
3. 20x 20 inch pillow insert
DO NOT bring a stretchy, slippery, or furry fabric for this project
SUPPLIES INCLUDED:
1. Invisible zipper
2. Sewing machine (but you are welcome to bring your own)
3. Pattern and instructions
4. Shears
5. Pins
