Learn to Sew 102 - Zipper Workshop (Two Parts)

Build upon what you have already learned in Sewing 101 AND learn a new skill! Students will learn how to install two styles of zippers. This class will open up a world of new opportunities for sewing projects!

What to Expect:

In this workshop, students will:

• Learn two ways to install zippers: exposed and invisible 

• Part 1 - Make a zipper pouch with exposed zipper

• Part 2 - Make a pillow cover with invisible zipper

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Sewing 101 (or equivalent skills). You must be familiar with operating a sewing machine in order to take this class. 

• Students MUST be able to thread and operate a sewing machine.

• Students should be familiar with basic sewing terms, such as, backstitching, right sides together, seam allowance, and how they are used.

SUPPLIES REQUIRED FOR Part 2 - PILLOW COVER CLASS:

Student MUST bring ALL of the following items:

• 3/4 yard of woven fabric  

  • A medium to heavy weight upholstery fabric is best! Do NOT bring a stretch knit fabric for this project, as it does not suit the design

• Thread that matches your fabric

• 14-18 inch invisible zipper

• 20x 20 inch pillow insert
